Abohar, June 19

Nine persons have been booked for assaulting a Congress councillor’s son.

Navdeep Bath Kikkarkhera, Nirvair Singh Rukanpura Khuikhera, Nijjar Singh, Sukhkaran Singh, Amit Sandhu and Sunny have been named in the FIR registered under Sections 307, 341, 324, 323, 427, 148 and 149 of the IPC, three more suspects are yet to be identified.

Some masked miscreants attacked Congress councillor Sewa Singh’s son on the highway and fled after injuring him badly. The victim, Amarinder Singh, himself is the block-level chief of the NSUI.

Preliminary investigation indicated that about a dozen masked youths first allegedly forced the car that Amarinder was driving to stop on the Abohar-Malout bypass and then attacked him using sharp-edged weapons. Amarinder has been admitted to the government hospital.
