In a statement, Mali said, "Anti-Sikh forces that can't tolerate the emerging Punjab model, issue-based and solution-based politics of transparency and accountability, which has dawned in the backdrop of the long-drawn peaceful 'kisan andolan', have a nefarious design to derail the dialogue process that has started taking shape... (There is a plot to) push me into the struggle with tied hands, which is not acceptable to me. I humbly withdraw my consent given for tendering suggestions to Navjot Singh Sidhu."
Mali said he had long been into the struggle in favour of Punjab, religious minorities, downtrodden, human rights, democratic values and federalism and would continue the fight for the same. He alleged the established politics of Punjab was by and large devoid of intellect and not willing to accept any major positive change for the welfare of Punjab and the country. He said he would continue his struggle against the politics of vested interests and for which he would collaborate with like-minded people.
He alleged a hateful campaign had been launched against him by political leaders Captain Amarinder Singh, Vijay inder Singla, Manish Tiwari (Congress); Sukhbir Badal, Bikram Majithia (Akali Dal); BJP secretary Subhash Sharma and Raghav Chadda of AAP. Mali alleged these politicians would be responsible if any harm was done to him.
Below is the statement that Mali posted on Facebook.
