Rlys may consider probe demand: MP

AMRITSAR: Local MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla on Tuesday met Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Railways, in New Delhi and discussed the accident at Joda Phatak.

Local MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla on Tuesday met Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Railways, in New Delhi and discussed the accident at Joda Phatak. He highlighted the rules which were “violated” by the railway administration and deficiencies in the Railways Act. He sought an aid of Rs 20 lakh each for the victims’ kin.

Aujla  claimed that upon his request, Goyal called Ashwani Lohani, chairman, Indian Railway Board, and discussed a fresh high-level probe keeping in view the prescribed speed limit of the trains, driver’s physical and mental condition, role of gate man at the nearby rail crossing, procedures which could have been adopted to avoid this accident.
