SAD questions timing of Punjab CM’s order on power purchase agreements

Sukhbir Badal, SAD President

Bathinda, July 29

Questioning Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s order to revisit or cancel all PPAs (power purchase agreements) signed with private firms, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said if the government was really concerned, why it did not cancel the pacts in its past four and a half years of its term?

Sukhbir was in the city to preside over an event where more than 250 members from different parties, including 100 members from the Congress Sewa Dal, joined the SAD on Thursday.

The SAD president said it was entirely the prerogative of the government and if it deemed the power pacts were wrong, it was free to cancel them at any time.

On the CBI probe into the SC scholarship scam, he said: “The Congress government is not sharing the complete record of the scam with the central agency. — TNS
