Admissions in colleges and senior secondary schools are going on at present. Many students are worried about their career and want to know what opportunities are available for arts/humanities students. Following are some career opportunities in different sectors.

Choose Civil Services and become an administrator

UPSC or other public services are not just a job — it is a dream. Every year a large group prepares themselves for this dream. A UPSC statement said that a total of 10,40,060 candidates applied for the examination in 2020, out of whom 4,82,770 appeared. As many as 10,564 candidates qualified for appearance in the written (main) examination held in January 2021, and 2,053 qualified for the personality test (interview), from which 761 candidates have been recommended for appointment. Students from science backgrounds are doing great in this field, but we can't ignore the splendid performance of the students with arts background in the Union or State Public Service Commission exams. If anyone wants to take these exams, he can choose the humanities stream without any fear. The eligibility for the UPSC exam is Graduation in any subject and age between 21 to 32 years, and for the State Level PCS exam, the age limit is upto 40 years. History and Political Science are the most common subjects for this exam for students of Humanities stream. So, your decision can change your destiny, now, the choice is yours.

Make your arguments strong, choose Law, and prove subjects don't matter

When we talk about intellectuals from the Indian perspective, we can't ignore lawyers from it. From the freedom fight to date, lawyers have played an important role and contributed  a lot. A black coat and white shirt weilds extraordinary power, and it shows the person's capacity without saying anything. If you find that your positive arguments are creating an impact and you can defeat anyone with your words, this uniform is waiting for you; grab it. Many students have a concern about salary and placement in this career, but the interesting thing about a career in law is that you can place yourself on your own, and the salary is limitless. Also, the law doesn't mean for Advocacy only; it has different career opportunities too. After completing BA LLB (5-year Integrated Course) or LLB (3-year course after Graduation), the student can also prepare for the judiciary. One quite interesting fact is it is likely to be similar to UPSC, but it is only open for students of Law, while UPSC is open for every graduate.

Besides, if anyone is not a good communicator and unable to make arguments, he doesn't have to worry. Law has a wider scope and opportunities, and anyone can fit himself in other available opportunities like JAG officers in the defence forces, Legal Advisor, Legal Clerk, Law officers, etc. A law graduate can also become a Public Prosecutor (PP) or legal officer in the government sector. In the changing digital world, there is a huge demand for cyber lawyers raised because of cybercrimes. So, this field is currently completely open for students.

Some more opportunities are also available in Law for those interested in teaching and research. They can do LLM after Graduation in Law and apply for Assistant Professor in Colleges or opt for an LLD degree for research work. After grabbing any of these opportunities, a student can prove that studying humanities as the future was a good decision.

Journalism

"Change is the rule of nature," and the economy of the world is based on the 'Rule of Demand.' Prepare yourselves according to these two power quotes. Every second writer is a blogger or an article writer, but demand has shifted to news or press release writing. If you are keenly interested in fact-checking and presenting truth with authenticity, kindly invest your skill in news writing. Various news portals are inviting applications for news writing and its other kinds of stuff.

If you want to make a career in Journalism or Mass Media, you can choose the Arts stream. Some courses like Bachelor in Mass Communication, Diploma in News Writing, Diploma in Anchoring, etc., help establish a career in the media industry. Don't worry about your salary in this field because everyone is now aware of highly paid anchors and news editors of the News Industry. News writing and anchoring are not the only two available options in this field; web analyzer, output heads, guest coordinators, public relations manager, producers and correspondents are the other open opportunities.

In the past few years, the demand for Hindi Patrakarita has also increased, and a special graduation course, 'Bachelor in Hindi Patrakarita,' is in existence now. Along with these opportunities, a student can find a career in theater or drama acting, scriptwriting, playwriting, voice-over artist, cartoonist, etc.

Other miscellaneous opportunities that can't be ignored

Humanities stream is a sea where all rivers meet, and it is un-expectational, undefinable because of its capacity. There are innumerable opportunities here. Here are some other career options that are in high demand nowadays.

If anyone can visualise things in and give it an appropriate mode, he should go with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts or Design. It includes Fashion, Textile, Interior, Jewellery, and Product designs.

A student interested in Business Administration can opt for the BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration). For computer-related courses, students can choose the BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application) course.

Bachelor's degrees in tourism, hospitality, music, social work, and photography are also available for the career. Anyone obsessed with his passion can opt for these courses.
