Positive fallouts of Covid

Positive fallouts of Covid

Deepika Kakkar, Sacred Heart Convent School, Bhikhiwind

Missing the moments of jolly mornings, when we teachers got admiring wishes from our lovely pupils while entering the school campus, eagerness of the blooming buds to move to their animated classes.

Though the daily incidents were repetitive, they were stable and now it's all taken away due to COVID-19 which has caught most of the world by surprise and is affecting everyone and is distributing daily routine. Even it has thrown a lot of schedules off.

The pandemic has become an unprecedented task for teacher-student relationship, forcing a readjustment of expectations without daily checkings and intellectual interaction, high-fives for a well done job or appreciation in front of the classmates. We need to move to learning systems that are more understanding-focused and driven by student led learning. Parents are playing a dual role in these changed circumstances. They are coordinating the schedules of their children and communicating with the school.

The biggest challenge for any teacher lies in understanding the different learning abilities of the students. Students differ in their grasping memory, concentration, ability to learn and write and show varied interest in various subjects. Leading a shoulder, a word of comfort and support instilling confidence and a positive attitude towards the students in their tough times is bound to bring a sea change in the lives of the students.

Every educational institute has set and followed clear and well manageable schedule while most important for children, this in needed for teachers and parents to plan as well.

They are using variety of tools to ensure that student learning process goes smoothly which includes videos, audios, worksheets and much more. Students are given time to complete their work.

Two positive fallouts from this unexpected experience:-

  • It will enhance a more cordial parent-teacher relationship as both work on same kid at the same time from their own home.
  • Teachers are also coming across with the new technology and methodologies thus updating themselves.

Thanks to the advent of new methodologies in teaching which will open the doors where scholars will enter by themselves to master their learning activities.
