PATIALA:Seasoned EME Jalandhar started their 44th GS Bains Liberals All India hockey tournament campaign with a clinical 3-0 victory over Hawks Rupnagar on the second day here today.

Seasoned EME Jalandhar started their 44th GS Bains Liberals All India hockey tournament campaign with a clinical 3-0 victory over Hawks Rupnagar on the second day here today. 

Biju Singh put the army outfit 1-0 ahead in 44th minute. EME then consolidated their lead to 2-0 through Gurmeet Singh in 54th minute. They scored again in 59th minute through Budututi. 

In another match, Madhya Pradesh XI, Bhopal, romped home 5-4 against SAI Kurukshetra. SAI scored in 1st and 6th minutes through Rahul to march 2-0 ahead. However, Bhopal hit back through Ali Ahmed (12th) and Zaid Khan (14th, 42nd) to take a 3-2 lead. Zaid Khan added another in 46th minute. SAI tried to fight back but Bhopal had the last laugh.

In another game, PHL Red, Ludhiana, outplayed SRC Ramgarh Cantt 6-4. — TNS
