Chandigarh, March 13

Sania Mirza was the lone Indian woman athlete, and non-cricketer, to make it to the ESPN Fame 100, which lists the most famous stars in world sport.

For the fourth year in a row, football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo topped the list of the most famous global sportspersons.

The ranking of active sportspersons compiled by judging three criteria: An athlete’s social media following, his/her Google Trend score, and the amount of money that they earn through endorsement deals.

Ronaldo had a Google Trend score of 100, endorsements earnings of $37 million and social media following of 148 million. At No. 2 is LeBron James (47, $52m, 45.3m), followed by Lionel Messi (54, $28m, 103.1m). Roger Federer is sixth (Google Trend score 23, endorsements $41.5 million, social media following 14.5 million). Kohli was No. 7, above Rafael Nadal (40, $29.3m, 15.6m). — TNS
