Arhan, Snigdha walk away with titles

Chandigarh: Arhan Pahwa today beat Sukhpreet Jhoje 7-4(5) 4-0 to win the boys U-12 singles final of the CLTA-AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament at the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association Courts Complex, Sector 10.

Arhan Pahwa today beat Sukhpreet Jhoje 7-4(5) 4-0 to win the boys U-12 singles final of the CLTA-AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament at the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association Courts Complex, Sector 10. 

In the girls U-12 category, Snigdha Sran beat Harnoor Sidhu 4-2 4-5(3) 4-2 to emerge as winner. 

Lagging 3-4 in the first set, Arhan came back strongly to level the score and win the set in the tie breaker. 

In the second set, Arhan was in the complete control and made Sukhpreet commit unforced errors to clinch the set (4-0) and match.

Jhoje had earlier upset second seed Sarthak Arora 9-7 to advance to the finals. In the second semifinal, Pahwa overcame top seed Rakshit Dhankar 9-1 in a one-sided match.

Sran took the first set 4-2 and was in complete control in the second set before Sidhu rallied to level the score and win the set. In the third set both players had long rallies, but Sran counted on her experience to beat Sidhu 4-2.

In the semifinals, Sran had defeated Batra in a hard-fought match 9-8(4), while Sidhu dominated Pratiksha Saini 9-0. 

In the first round of the boys U-16, top seed Shashikant blanked Shrenik Bhalla 6-0 6-0. The second round of the main draw in the boys and girls U-16 segment will be played tomorrow.
