Proposed Memorial to Lord Willingdon.

YESTERDAY we published an interesting correspondence between the promoters of a movement that has been started in Bombay for voting a memorial on behalf of that city to His Excellency Lord Willingdon, and certain prominent citizens headed by Mr. Jinnah. What the upshot of the correspondence will be we do not know, but we think it right that Mr. Jinnah and his associates should have made the protest they have and have distinctly told the promoters of the movement what they will do if a public meeting is held for the purpose. “We feel,” they write in their letter, “that you cannot be unaware that in view of the record of Lord Willingdon’s administration and certain features of it peculiar to himself there will be a very strong opposition to any such proposed action if it should purport to be taken on behalf of the citizens of Bombay.”
