ON another point Mr Ironside got his rebuff from Pandit Malaviya. He said in his speech that in Calcutta he had discussed the matter with Indian friends and they were of opinion that for the sake of the people of Bengal and the saner portion of the community the Bill must be pushed through. Pandit Malaviya enquired who these Indian friends, what their credentials were and why they did not come forward to express the views publicly. His reply was:-“They dare not.” In that case, said Pandit Malaviya, their opinions are not worth having.
