Chandigarh, September 30

The UT is all set to collaborate with ChalkLit for preparing students for the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA)-2021 through online teacher training.

ChalkLit is an app for teacher education and training. It provides teachers with tools, resources and training to help them teach better in classrooms. It also offers a personalised peer-to-peer social micro-learning network where teachers can learn from the best practices and experience of other teachers.

Four subject experts’ groups have been constituted to study the PISA framework, develop PISA test items for the three domains and suggest measures to be undertaken for reorienting the teaching-learning process in the context of PISA.

In addition to it, nine committees have been constituted by the Director, School Education, for mentoring, supervision and inspection of government schools on a regular basis

Around 812 TGTs were trained by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) on experiential learning of PISA framework, pedagogy and formulation of PISA items in science, maths and languages.

Besides, schools have incorporated PISA-based assessment to their routine testing schedules.

BL Sharma, UT Education Secretary, said: “Two capacity-building programmes for subject expert groups — mathematical literacy and science literacy — has been conducted by the CBSE. Further, expert groups will conduct a second round of training for all teachers of the UT in the first week of October.”

Project to aid PISA

Project Phoenix that was launched to track the achievement of learning outcomes of all students and performance of teachers of elementary level will now help the UT in PISA preparations as well. It is a mobile-based application on learning outcomes. A progress sheet is developed to track the progress of students and performance of teachers on a monthly basis – subject-wise, class-wise, school and cluster-wise.
