Chandigarh, December 23

Traffic snarls were witnessed at Udyog Path this afternoon as the road was clogged with vehicles at the Sector 30/27/20/19 roundabout.

Although the traffic police were present at the roundabout to regulate the traffic, the commuters ended up waiting in long queue for the traffic to get cleared.

Vikrant, a commuter, who was stuck in the traffic jam, said that the traffic police should chalk out a plan for regulating traffic in a bid to ensure that commuters didn’t end up wasting their time due to traffic snarls. “Despite of the fact that policemen were stationed at the roundabout, there was a chaos-like situation which is surprising”, he added.

Ishita, another commuter, who was driving down towards Sector 17 ISBT said the traffic jams on this particular road had become a routine. “There is heavy traffic at the roundabouts and traffic police start regulating the traffic by halting vehicles on one side of the road which leads to the vehicles lining up in long queues”, she added.

The four-kilometer long stretch of Udyog Path from Sector 17/18/22./21 roundabout to Sector 28/29 Industrial Area light point witnesses acute traffic jam during morning and evening hours.

Police officials meanwhile said that the traffic at one roundabout is halted to ensure that the snarls are not witnessed on the other intersections on the road.
