Amritsar: The police have booked 20 persons for allegedly attacking Rajpal Singh, a resident of Rasoolpur Kalar village that comes under Vallah, here on Saturday.



Amritsar: The police have booked 20 persons for allegedly attacking Rajpal Singh, a resident of Rasoolpur Kalar village that comes under Vallah, here on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Hari and his brother, Sukha and his brother Mallu, Sunny, Saabu, Viru and Vicky and his two brothers — Kishan and Ram, besides unknown persons. A case under Sections 307, 336, 148, 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused. Rajpal Singh told the police that he and his friends were standing near Gurdwara Rasoolpur Kalr when the accused attacked them. 

Rajpal said the accused fired several gun shots and one of them hit him in the leg. He was admitted to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital. Police officer Mukhtar Singh, who is investigating the case, said the complainant himself has a criminal record and cases under the NDPS Act were registered against him. The complainant had come out on bail, the police officer said. Mukhtar said raids were on to nab the accused. TNS

Balloon from Pak falls in Ajnala

Amritsar: A balloon that fell in Ajnala from the Pakistan side has become the talk of the town. According to the police, there was a message in Urdu, which was written by a youth identified as Ashfaq Mota. He had expressed his love for a girl. A cellphone number was also found written on it. The police have been investigating the matter. Ravinderpal Singh Dhillon, Station House Officer of the Ajnala police station, said the balloon was found at a flour mill after which residents informed the police. TNS

Two injured in road mishap

Tarn Taran: Two motorcycle-borne persons were injured in a road mishap that took place 10 days ago on the Chabal-Khemkaran road near Musse village, 20 km from here. Kulwinder Singh and his friend Khushbir Singh, residents of Jhorad village in Mukatsar, were injured when their motorcycle were hit by a tractor. They were going to Gurdwara Beer Baba Budha Sahib when the accident took place. A case under Sections 279, 427, 337,338 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the driver of the tractor. Assistant Sub-Inspector Hari Singh, who is investigating the case, said the injured were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but their condition was out of danger. OC
