With the general house of Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society (CKD) scheduled to meet on March 4 to elect its office bearers, the top post fell vacant after removal of Charanjit Singh Chadha.

Noted surgeon and philanthropist Dr Santokh Singh has already announced to contest for the post of the president of CKD for which the election along with the posts of vice-president and secretary would be held during general house meet.

Dr Singh held a meeting with many senior members of CKD and filed his nomination. He had earlier served as the vice president of the CKD. The other probable candidates for the post of president include Dhanraj Singh, the incumbent vice vresident, who was appointed acting president after removal of Chadha recently.

Honorary secretary Nirmal Singh Khurana said that candidates can file their nominations till February 23. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 27.

The last election using ballots was held in 1994. After it the leaders were elected unanimously.

A meeting to make preparations for the same has been called for February 26.
