Five booked for dowry harassment

TARN TARAN: The police have booked five members of a family for allegedly torturing a woman over dowry.

The police have booked five members of a family for allegedly torturing a woman over dowry.

The accused have been identified as residents of Mehindipur village, 35 km from here.

ASI Ravi Shankar, Investigation Officer(IO), said the accused had been identified as Gurjant Singh, his father Avtar Singh, mother Jasbir Kaur, brothers Ranjit Singh and Manjit Singh.

The IO said a case had been registered on the complaint of Paramjit Kaur, wife of accused Gurjant Singh under Sections, 498-A, 406 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
