Man booked for domestic violence

AMRITSAR: The Beas police have booked a person, identified as Deepak Kumar of the Sharifpura area, for allegedly thrashing his wife and demanding dowry from her.

The Beas police have booked a person, identified as Deepak Kumar of the Sharifpura area, for allegedly thrashing his wife and demanding dowry from her.

A case under Section 498-A, IPC, and Section 15 of the Domestic Violence Act has been registered against him while no arrest has been made so far.

Vandana Rani, the victim, stated to the police that she was married to the accused in April 2014.

She said he started harassing her for bringing “insufficient” dowry and thrashed her. The police has registered a case following an inquiry conducted by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Baba Bakala.

Meanwhile, three youths were booked by the police for allegedly molesting a schoolgirl. The victim lodged a complaint with the Beas police that the accused used to tease her whenever she went to her school in Rayya. She is student of plus two. The accused were identified as Lovepreet Singh, Jobabpreet Singh and Sunny, all residents of Cheema Bath village.  A case under Sections 354, 506 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against them. No arrest has been made so far.
