Experts well-versed in the Code on Wages 2019 apprised the CII Zonal Council members of the law during an interactive session on reforms in labour laws with a special reference to the code on Thursday.

Kanav Aggarwal, Chairman of CII Zonal Council, while welcoming the members said the CII was endeavouring to cater to all sorts of impediments being faced by member industrialists.

Advocates Nitish Chopra and Darshan Singh spoke on all aspects of the bill, including definition, coverage, applicability, floor wages, overtime, payment, deductions, advisory board and offences.

The advocates said as per the current legislation, the labour class was entitled to move against the employer in the court of law, leading to criminal proceedings against the employer.

Members of the body demanded that an appropriate representation be sent through the CII to the Government of India regarding ammendments needed in the bill to safeguard the interest of employers.
