A postman posted at the Jandiala Guru post office was booked for irregularities in recurring deposit (RD) accounts here on Monday. The suspect has been identified as Dalbir Singh.
The Senior Superintendent of the post office, Amritsar, filed a complaint with the Jandiala police, in which he said the suspect made fake entries in the record register of RD account holders.
During a departmental inquiry, officials found that the suspect embezzled Rs1.69 lakh of RD. On a complaint of senior officials, a case under Section 409 of the IPC has been registered at the Jandiala police station. No arrest has been made so far.
