Robbers take away trader’s car at gunpoint

MAHILAPUR: Unidentified armed robbers took away a Hyundai Creta vehicle from a textile merchant of Mahilpur town from near Thuana village on the Phagwara road late last night.

Unidentified armed robbers took away a Hyundai Creta vehicle from a textile merchant of Mahilpur town from near Thuana village on the Phagwara road late last night. He was returning to his home in Mahilpur after attending a wedding in Ludhiana with his driver and four-year-old son. The Mahilpur police have registered a case of robbery against unknown miscreants.

According to information, Meghowal Doaba village resident Jagvinder Singh told the police that he was driving the car of Harjot Singh of Mahilpur during the incident and they were going to attend a wedding in Ludhiana.

While they were returning to Mahilpur late last night, a car coming stopped before them, forcing them to stop too.

As they stopped, four youths, who were holding pistols in their hands, came out of the vehicle,

They took away Harjot’s vehicle at gunpoint and escaped towards Mahilpur. From Kharodi, the vehicle of the suspects was taken towards Phagwara while the victim’s car was seen going towards the Hakumatpur side. The victim said his mobile phone was in the car and when the police was informed, tracing the location of the mobile, the police reached Kalewal Fattu village but found the phone lying by the roadside.

Mahilpur police station in-charge Inspector Sukhwinder Singh said a case had been registered against the unidentified robbers and they would be arrested soon.
