Five booked for rape, molestation

BATHINDA: Two incidents of rape and molestation have been reported in the district. In the first incident, a Dhobiana Basti resident has lodged a complaint that the accused Bhana Singh, a resident of Rama Mandi, and Teja Singh, raped her in an Innova car at Lehra Sodha village.

Two incidents of rape and molestation have been reported in the district.

In the first incident, a Dhobiana Basti resident has lodged a complaint that the accused Bhana Singh, a resident of Rama Mandi, and Teja Singh, raped her in an Innova car at Lehra Sodha village.

The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC at the Nathana police station.

ASI Gurpreet Singh said in the complaint, the woman has stated that she came in contact with the accused as she wanted to get a loan.

She got to know to that the accused gave loans. She went to meet them but the latter told her that they wanted to see her house before approving the loan. They asked her to come along in the Innova car.

On the way, instead of going to her house, they raped her, she added.

He also stated that medical examination of the victim has been done and report is still awaited. However, no arrest has been made in this case so far.

In another case, a woman resident of Mehraj village has lodged a complaint that accused Badal Singh, Jassa Singh and Gurdeep Singh, residents of the same village, reached near her house around 11 pm at night.

Badal Singh scaled the boundary wall of her house and tried to rape her, she said, adding that he tore off her clothes. The incident took place at Kothe Malluana Mehraj.

The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 376, 452, 511 and 34 of the IPC at Rampura (City) police station. However, no arrest has been made so far.
