Bathinda, November 18

A gas-cutter gang made an attempt at looting an ATM of the State Bank of India (SBI) located on the Bhatti road on Sunday. As the ATM machine caught fire, the miscreants fled away. They also took away DVR of CCTV cameras installed at the ATM.

Seeing the smoke coming out of the ATM, residents informed the police and the Fire Department. A fire brigade reached the spot and doused the fire.

Civil Lines police station SHO Ravinder Singh, along with a police team, reached the spot and started a probe into the incident. As no other CCTV camera was installed near the ATM, the task of the police has become difficult.

As per bank officials, the ATM machine was loaded with money on Saturday with Rs27 lakh. When the miscreants attempted the loot, it had Rs25 lakh.
