Hindi Divas observed at GKU

BATHINDA: Faculty members and students of University College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (UCBS&H) of Guru Kashi University (GKU) observed “Hindi Divas” on Monday. The programme was chaired by Dr Kavita Chaudhry, dean, UCBS&H.

Faculty members and students of University College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (UCBS&H) of Guru Kashi University (GKU) observed “Hindi Divas” on Monday. The programme was chaired by Dr Kavita Chaudhry, dean, UCBS&H.

A lively event was organised where the staff and students presented poems and papers highlighting the importance of Hindi as the national language.

Chaudhary in her address said, “Hindi is the official language of our nation and the script of this language is easy and simple. All our efforts should be for the development of the language. This is the language of the mass and can become an effective medium of communicating facts and great ideas to the people.”

Vijay Prasad, head of english department, said, “In order to boost the language, we should celebrate this day every year and organise orientation programmes, seminars/essay-writing competitions and short stories.”

He appreciated the efforts made by convener (curricular activities) Neeraj and Kuldeep to make this programme a success. After that, participants sang songs in Hindi. Gagandeep Kaur and Kuldeep Kaur, students of UCBS&H, highlighted the changing face of Hindi in the present scenario. Both were fascinated by a book written by Dr Gyani Devi Gupta ‘Anubhav Ki Dahleej Par’. Gurvinder gave a brief description of the history of the language to complete the programme.
