Bathinda, December 16

Unhappy over alleged failure of the police to get any breakthrough in a kidnapping case of a minor girl even after five days, relatives of the victim on Sunday staged a protest outside the Civil Hospital police post. They also raised slogans against the police.

The victim’s father said his daughter had been kidnapped by two unidentified youths on a motorcycle near Old Thana. He said he immediately lodged a complaint with the police.

“When we told the police about the suspects, who kidnapped my daughter, instead of interrogating them, a police officer misbehaved with us. The police officer asked us to get the suspects to the police post on our own,” said the victim’s father.

He said the police had also traced the location of his daughter, but despite that, they were not working seriously.

Congress councillor Sanjay Biswal was also present on the occasion. He said the police officer’s attitude towards the victim’s family was not right. He also demanded the transfer of the police officer at the earliest.

He said the victim’s family should get justice.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Nanak Singh said, “The police have already sent a team to Alwar. The suspects, who have kidnapped the girl, will be arrested soon.”
