No complaint, ‘triple murder’ treated as natural death

A day after three members of a family, including a woman and her two small children, were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their home in Faridkot, the police are groping in the dark about the raison d’être of these murders.

Though the post-mortem of the deceased, 27-year-old Pooja, her daughter Sonam (7) and son Manik (5), conducted by a panel of three doctors here on Wednesday has given strong indication of them being poisoned as the dead bodies had froth at the mouth, the police have not received any complaint and hence there is no inquiry and the deaths are being treated as ‘natural deaths’ so far.

The post-mortem report suggests that there was no forcible administration of poison to the deceased.

Moreover, there were no signs of struggle on the bodies or in the surrounding area of the bed where they were sleeping and found dead.

While the details of the poison will be known after the examination of viscera, it is believed that the deceased were given or had taken the poison in food or milk they had taken before going to bed.

So far, the police are acting as per information being provided by Dharminder Kumar, the husband of the deceased woman.

Though Dharminder himself is a suspect in this ‘triple murder’ case, the police are not adopting any strict posture towards Dharminder in the absence of any complaint.

Police sources said the parents of Pooja were already dead, so there was no complaint from her parents’ side.

As per information available with the police, Dharminder Kumar, an electrician and contractual worker with the PSPCL, had left his house around 5 am on Tuesday morning for some repair work.

He claimed that without disturbing his wife and children, he left them sleeping and returned home after about four hours and found all of them dead.
