One booked for stealing revolver

The CIA-2 wing of the Bathinda police today arrested a person with .32 revolver, which was allegedly stolen by the accused to kill his relative.

A case has been registered at the Talwandi Sabo police station under Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. Tarjinder Singh, in-charge of the CIA-2 wing of the Bathinda police, said the accused had been identified as Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Talwandi Sabo.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by ASI Harinder Singh arrested him from Talwandi Sabo. During interrogation, Gurpreet Singh told the police that his brother-in-law, a resident of Maanwala, had a dispute with his wife.

He said his brother-in-law was facing trail in four cases and due to this, his family members were suffering.

Tarjinder Singh said to close this episode, the accused wanted to kill his sister-in-law (wife of brother-in-law) and he stole a revolver and six cartridges from a car. Tarjinder Singh said according to his statement, the accused had stolen the revolver from a railway station in Haryana.

The police have contacted the Haryana police and the GRP, but they were still not clear about the place. The police are conducting a probe in the matter. The accused had earlier too stolen a revolver and was arrested. He was out on bail. IO Harinder Singh said the accused was in one-day police remand. — TNS
