KK Singla, XEN of the Punjab State Water Resource Management and Development Corporation, who was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau, will be interrogated to ascertain the source of Rs 15 lakh in cash in new currency.
Newly appointed Vigilance SSP Rajinder Singh said since he joined today, he would soon reach the depth of the case.
Vigilance sleuths conducted a raid at the house of the XEN, following a complaint lodged by a contractor who accused the official of demanding Rs 50,000 in bribe for releasing an amount of Rs 10 lakh.
The contractor was demanding his pending payment for cementing water channels at Mahinangal village.
When the XEN refused to release the payment without the bribe, the contractor then brought the matter into the notice of the Vigilance Bureau.
