SBI launches ‘YONO 20 Under Twenty’ for young achievers

In order to become the most preferred bank for the youth, country''s largest lender SBI has announced the launch of ''YONO 20 under Twenty'' to recognise and reward young achievers below 20 years of age across 10 diverse fields.



In order to become the most preferred bank for the youth, country's largest lender SBI has announced the launch of 'YONO 20 under Twenty' to recognise and reward young achievers below 20 years of age across 10 diverse fields. SBI plans to honour 20 young achievers in 10 categories such as sustainability, performing arts, acting, entrepreneurship or innovation, sports, global Indian, disability champion among others.

Vidyapeeth felicitates students on annual day

Vidyapeeth, Shimla, recently celebrated its annual day and felicitated students for their outstanding performance in different categories of competitive exams conducted by the institute. To encourage the students, Vidyapeeth offers scholarship to students of different streams to facilitate their studies. On the occasion, 18 students were awarded mementos and citation.

BHEL to set up solar electric vehicle chargers on highway

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) will set up a network of solar-based electric vehicle chargers on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway. The project is covered under the FAME scheme (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid & Electric Vehicles in India) of the Department of Heavy Industry, Government of India. The establishment of EV chargers at regular intervals over the entire 250-km stretch between Delhi and Chandigarh would allay range-anxiety among the electric vehicle users and bolster their confidence for inter-city travel.

Realme to extend offline sales in 150 cities/towns

Realme has announced to expand its offline sales to 150 cities. The brand will start with top cities of the country, gradually moving towards 150 cities in phases. The "Proud to be Young" brand has partnered with offline retailers which will be known as Real Partners and will give a value addition to customer experience.

Fortis, Mohali, organises course on sports medicine

Keeping in mind how sports medicine is emerging as a specialty, Fortis Hospital, Mohali,  recently organised first Chandigarh Sports Medicine Course. The objective was to discuss various sports injuries, their treatment and to work out solutions. Dr Manit Arora, an Australian consultant orthopaedic and sports medicine surgeon at Fortis conducted the course in association with Indian Medical Association and International Society for Knowledge for Surgeons on Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty. 45 delegates, including top PGI doctors, attended the course.

Fujifilm showcases latest medical devices at PGI

Fujifilm India Pvt Ltd recently showcased its latest medical equipment at the 72nd national conference of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association. The three-day conference was held at PGIMER, Chandigarh. Fujifilm displayed full field digital mammography (FFDM), digital radiography (DR), computed radiography (CR) systems, medical informatics (medical imaging and information management system) and ultrasound equipment.

Jatinder Minhas honoured at Punjabi Parvasi Divas

Jalandhar-origin Canadian realtor Jatinder J Minhas was honoured at the 25th Punjabi Parvasi Divas organised by International Chamber for Service Industry in association with NRI Affairs Department, Punjab Government, at a function held in Chandigarh recently. The chief guest on the occasion was Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal. Minhas' role was also recognised for his social work in Punjab through his series of philanthropic projects. 

First Indian CT scanner set for launch in April

The first indigenously-manufactured state-of-the-art 32 slice CT scan “Acutom-32”, which was showcased at annual conference of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association held at the PGI, Chandigarh, recently, is set  to be commercially launched in April. “The new CT scan will give tough competition to the MNCs, which are currently ruling the roost in the CT Scan market in India,” said Suresh Sharma, CMD of Chandigarh-based Allengers Medical Systems Ltd.

Max Life Insurance launches InstaClaim

Max Life Insurance has launched InstaClaim - an initiative that endeavours to pay death claims in just 1 day for policies up to Rs 50 lakh where all minimum mandatory documents are received. Death claims shall be eligible for InstaClaim provided the policy duration is more than three continuous years and it does not warrant any further verification.  

Five Allen students secure 100 percentile in JEE Main 

Five students of Allen Career Institute have secured 100 percentile in JEE Main 2019 (January attempt), the result of which was announced by National Testing Agency recently.  As many as 15 students have secured 100 percentile across the country, out of which five are from Allen. The five students who have achieved 100 percentile are Sambit Behera, Jayesh Singla, Kevin Martin, Ankit Kumar Misra and Kartikey Gupta. 

Orane International inks pact with BSDU, Jaipur

Chandigarh-based Orane International — a National Skill Development Corporation-approved training partner — has signed an MoU with Bhartiya Skill Development University (BSDU), Jaipur. Both will collaborate to conduct undergraduate and postgraduate degree-level courses in beauty and wellness at the BSDU. Orane will set up a “centre of excellence” at the BSDU.
