2 held for fatal assault on rickshaw puller

Two persons have been arrested for the murder of a rickshaw puller at the Industrial Area here.

The accused, identified as Kallu, 35 and Sunny, 36, both residents of Sanjay colony, had attacked Sunil Kumar, also of Sanjay Colony, with sticks on October 1. The victim had succumbed to his injuries at the GMCH-32 on October 10.

According to the police, the victim and the accused consumed liquor together on October 1 and later had a fight over some issue. The accused attacked Sunil with sticks. The victim was admitted to the GMCH-32 with grievous head injuries. The police said Sunil’s family forcefully took him home from the hospital two days later.

On October 6, Sunil complained of pain in the head, following which he was taken back to the GMCH -32 where he died on October 10. On October 13, the police got the post-mortem report of Sunil, which confirmed that he died of head injuries.

The deceased’s wife Sangeeta lodged a complaint with the Industrial Area Phase –I police station that Sunny and Kallu had hit her husband with sticks a few days ago, which led to his death.

The police registered a case and arrested the accused.
