2 thieves arrested from Mohali

The police have arrested two thieves from Daun village here and recovered stolen gold and silver jewellery items worth around Rs 1 lakh from their possession, here.

The accused have been identified as Anil Kumar, a resident of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Bhoora, a resident of Badayu, Uttar Pradesh.

Giving information, Inspector Manphul Singh, Station House Officer of the Balongi police station here said the miscreants were arrested from near Daun village. On suspicion, the police stopped two persons for checking.

“During search, our team recovered around 40 grams of gold and 700 grams of silver jewellery items from their possession. They confessed that they have stolen the jewellery items from a house here,” said the Station House Officer.

He said the duo was produced before a court which sent them to three-day police remand.
