A musical tribute to ghazal king Jagjit Singh

CHANDIGARH:Rich musical tributes were paid to the celestial Ghazal maestro, Jagjit Singh, by well-known singers under the aegis of the Sargam Society of Indian Music and Arts and Department of Cultural Affairs in a specially designed programme 'Kahan Tum Chale Gaye' at Mini Tagore theatre hall here today.

Rich musical tributes were paid to the celestial Ghazal maestro, Jagjit Singh, by well-known singers under the aegis of the Sargam Society of Indian Music and Arts and Department of Cultural Affairs in a specially designed programme 'Kahan Tum Chale Gaye' at Mini Tagore theatre hall here today.

Chief guest Anurag Aggarwal, Secretary, Home and Culture; SK Setia, Director, Haryana Swaran Jayanti; and CSNA chairman Kamal Arora lighted the traditional lamp.

Amateur artists, including Sushil Nagpal, Piyousha Mitra led by RD Kailey and Dr Komal Chugh, presented over a dozen songs and ghazals immortalised by the legend.

Kailey who had learnt Thumri and Kaafi singing from Ustad Lachhman Dass Sindhu and  others teamed up with Dr Komal Chugh, a gold medalist, only to bring alive the emotional content of over dozen ghazals, nazms and songs.
