Bag with valuables stolen at wedding

CHANDIGARH: Miscreants stole a bag containing Rs 53,000 and gold ornaments during the marriage ceremony at a community centre in Sector 37-D here today.

Miscreants stole a bag containing Rs 53,000 and gold ornaments during the marriage ceremony at a community centre in Sector 37-D here today.

The bag containing a gold magalsutra, a gold chain, a gold locket, tops and cash was stolen from the groom’s father.

Complainant Subhash Chand, a resident of Fazilka, Punjab, said the theft took place when people were having food at the function.

A case has been registered against unknown persons under Section 380 (theft in dwelling house etc) of the IPC. The police said no CCTV cameras were installed at the community centre. Video recording of the function would be checked to identify the miscreants.
