The three-day Chandigarh Carnival 2017 kicked off at Leisure Valley in Sector 10 here today.

The Tribune is the media partner of the event which was inaugurated by MP Kirron Kher. The theme of the extravaganza this year is ‘Indradhanush- Colour your life like a rainbow’.

The inaugural ceremony was in the presence of Anurag Agarwal, Home Secretary-cum-Secretary Tourism, and Jitender Yadav, Director Tourism.

To be a part of the lucky draw at the event, visitors have to download the Swachhata-MoHUA App and register themselves.

The inaugural ceremony also included flagging beautiful and creative floats designed and formulated by students of Arts College, Sector 10. A Police band also performed during the inaugural ceremony. For car lovers, Vintage cars are put on display at the Government Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10.

The carnival consist of stalls exhibited by various academies, NGOs and government departments who have displayed various art and craft in different stalls, day-long cultural programmes by various artists/performer on stage, amusement park, joy rides and camel rides for kids, along with various fun and frolic activities and presence of cartoon characters during the event.

The first day of the carnival witnessed a performance by Punjabi singer Ninja which began 6:30 pm onward. Ninja performed on his famous melodies ‘Oh kyu ni jaan sakey’, ‘Gall jattan wali’ and ‘Roi na’.
