City gets 7 more domestic flights in summer schedule

MOHALI: From March 31, the frequency of flights at the city airport will be increased to 34 with addition of seven domestic flights.

From March 31, the frequency of flights at the city airport will be increased to 34 with addition of seven domestic flights.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) today announced its summer schedule, which will remain effective from March 31 to October 26.

According to the schedule, the Chandigarh airport will see arrival and departure of 34 flights daily against 27 being operated at present.

An airport spokesperson said the frequency of the flights had been increased to 34 now, adding that more flights would be added to the schedule in the near future.

The number of flights to Delhi will be increased from present eight to 11. Similarly, the number of Mumbai flights has been increased from four to six and Bengaluru from three to five. The flights to and from Hyderabad have been doubled to two.

The spokesperson said the watch hours at the airport had also been increased in the summer schedule. At present, the watch hours are between 7 am and 4:35 pm. From March 31, the timings will be from 6:35 am to 8:15 pm.

MR Jindal, Station Manager, Air India, said more aircraft may be pressed into service. Meanwhile, Alliance Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India, has announced cancellation of flights to and back Kullu for April 2 and 3 due to operational reasons.
