Chandigarh, November 18
Former Congress MP Pawan Kumar Bansal and state general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) have condemned the recent gang rape reported in the city.
Bansal, in a press statement, has called for the need to strengthen police patrolling, especially at night and taking appropriate measures to restore the lost faith of women and public in Chandigarh’s safety. He also showed concern over the news of an Electricity Department officer being beaten to death while he was doing his duty at a Sector 25 colony.
BJYM state general secretary Mehakveer Singh Sandhu said the gang rape incident was a shameful act and had brought a bad name to the City Beautiful. He said the administration needed to be more vigilant and responsible. — TNS
