FATEHGARH SAHIB: The police claimed to have solved two blind murder cases with the arrest of the accused.

Fatehgarh Sahib, May 18

The police claimed to have solved two blind murder cases with the arrest of the accused.

SSP Alka Meena said Harpreet Singh, a resident of Sirhind, had informed the police that a girl was seen crying near a body. The police immediately rushed to the spot and found a widow, in her mid-20s, lying in pool of blood.

She said a police team, led by Daljit Singh Rana SP( Detective), and GS Sikand, SHO, Fatehgarh Sahib, succeeded in nabbing the accused, identified as Bhola Yadav, a resident of Bihar. He has a criminal background and has been convicted in another murder case.

The SSP said during the investigation, Yadav admitted that they used to meet at a gurdwara in Fatehgarh Sahib and developed intimacy. As he sought sexual favours, she refused. Later, Yadav claimed that he saw her in a compromising position with someone else after which he murdered her by hitting in the head with a wooden rod.

In another case, the SSP said Mukhtiar Singh, a resident of Ludhiana, had alleged that his son Sewak Singh was living in rented accommodation at Mata Gujri Colony in Fatehgarh Sahib and was murdered by his landlords, Guljar Singh and Kimat Singh, who pushed him from the first floor.

The SSP said the police had arrested both accused but they were found innocent and released later. She said a team of the police cracked the case with the arrest of Ravi Singh, alias Gora, a resident of Bihar, who revealed that he had a quarrel with Sewak over the purchase of a mobile phone. He said Sewak Singh had taken Rs 700 from him but neither he gave him the mobile phone nor returned the money. He admitted that they had consumed liquor in his room and he pushed him from the balcony of the first floor. —OC
