Disco menace: Mohali police to tighten noose

MOHALI: After registration of cases under Section 188 of the IPC against owners of discos in Zirakpur, the Mohali police have now recommended cancellation of bar licences issued by the Excise Department to these places.

Mohali, September 25

After registration of cases under Section 188 of the IPC against owners of discos in Zirakpur, the Mohali police have now recommended cancellation of bar licences issued by the Excise Department to these places.

Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said he would write to the Excise Department’s authorities to cancel the licence of discos. “I will not allow such offenders to continue their business. The police will not give them no objection certificates,” said the SSP.

Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said he would also issue orders to the department concerned to take necessary action against habitual offenders.

Cases against four discos have been registered in the recent past after they were found operating after the time set by the District Magistrate. — TNS
