Patiala, February 5
President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award on Dr Gurnam Singh, head of the Department of Gurmat Sangeet, Punjabi University, for his contribution to the tradition of Gurbani music.
Dr Gurnam Singh has been instrumental in the establishment of the Gurmat Sangeet Department at various universities in the country.
He has contributed to various dictionaries, books, research papers, documentary films and signature tunes published by Universities.
