PANCHKULA: The road leading from the roundabout of Sector 7-8-18-17 to the Housing Board and inversely would remain closed for nine days starting today for setting up of a welcome gate.

The road leading from the roundabout of Sector 7-8-18-17 to the Housing Board and inversely would remain closed for nine days starting today for setting up of a welcome gate.

The Executive Engineer of the Panchkula Municipal Corporation said the road had been closed due to the construction of the entry gate at the Chandigarh-Panchkula border. He said the road would remain closed till July 19.

Thousands of vehicles come and go from Chandigarh and Panchkula through this road. There was a jam like situation during office hours in the morning and evening.

The Executive Engineer said people would have to take alternative routes to reach their destination. People living in Sectors 9, 10, 11, 12, 12-A, 14, 15, 16 and 19 could use the road from Mouli Jagran connecting Chandigarh or divert to the left from 7-8-17-18 roundabout.

Similarly, people coming from Sectors 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 21 could take the route from Geeta Chowk and go towards Chandigarh after crossing Mani Majra.
