Mechanic’s murder: UT police recover Innova used in crime

The UT police have recovered the Innova in which the 28-year-old car mechanic was kidnapped and murdered before dumping his body at the forest area of Siswan, Mohali.

The victim, Mohammad Ali, was kidnapped from near the grain market in Sector 39 on April 11. The cops had later recovered his half-burnt body from Siswan in the wee hours of April 14.

The police had already arrested two accused in the case, including the victim’s wife’s jilted lover Khem Singh (31), alias Shanty, who runs an orchestra group, and Jagdev (29), alias Gaggi, a DJ by profession. Two other accused in the case, including Shanty’s brother, are absconding.

The accused had kidnapped the victim in an Innova and took him towards Siswan. Ali was strangulated in the MUV using a stole. The accused then bought petrol from a fuel station near Mullanpur and later took the body to the forest area in Siswan. They removed the victim’s clothes, poured the fuel on his face and set it afire. — TNS
