Teachers and students of Jainendra Gurukul Senior Secondary School today protested against the school management for having a biased approach towards them while giving increments.

The teachers raised slogans against the principal and the school management while holding a dharna in front of the main gate of the school premises. Teachers have alleged that the principal was biased in giving increments to them, whereas she was giving handsome increments to chosen ones despite the fact that they had been teaching in the school for the past 10 to 12 years.

Interestingly, the students and their parents also supported the teachers in the protest. The teachers demanded that the school should increase increment of those who had been given less salary hike and give the same to those who had been denied increment this year.

The protesting teachers claimed that the previous school management had assured them that they would be given proper increments. But the school made changes in its management about one month ago, so that they did not have to give increments to the teachers.

They said the new management had issued a notification to give increments to all teachers on Thursday. However, about 19 teachers were not satisfied with the increments given to them by the management. The teachers alleged that due to the interference of the school principal the management had not increased their salaries.

According to sources, the students also came out of the school as there were no teachers to teach them. They also started raising slogans with the teachers forcing the school management to call the police. When contacted, Principal Renu Sharma said a meeting of the school management, teachers and District Education Officer HS Saini was held recently in which the teachers were informed that a decision would be taken soon after organising their meeting with the school management. She said as the teachers had not taught the students on Friday so the management had asked them to seek forgiveness in writing.
