Nirmal Yadav files plea for renewal of passport

CHANDIGARH: A retired Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge, Justice Nirmal Yadav, today filed an application in the Special CBI Court seeking permission for getting her passport renewed. Justice Yadav is an accused in the alleged cash-at-judge’s-door case.

A retired Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge, Justice Nirmal Yadav, today filed an application in the Special CBI Court seeking permission for getting her passport renewed. Justice Yadav is an accused in the alleged cash-at-judge’s-door case.

The alleged case surfaced in August 2008 when Justice Nirmaljit Kaur called the police after a bag containing Rs 15 lakh was erroneously delivered at her house.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had alleged that the money had been demanded by Justice Nirmal Yadav. The money was delivered by Parkash Ram, a clerk of advocate Sanjiv Bansal, the then Additional Advocate General, Haryana, on the directions of Ravinder Singh, a Delhi-based businessman.

During resumed hearing in the Special CBI Court today, four witnesses VK Gupta, RK Singh, Gurinderpal Singh and CK Bhandari recorded their statement. However, fifth witness Surinder Sood could not appear in the court due to his some personal problem.

In his statement, CK Bhandari, stated that in 2008, he was working for Matrix Cellular (International) Services Pvt Ltd, New Delhi, as Deputy General Manager (Administration). “I have been shown a letter dated November 21, 2008, signed by me and now identified by me, as authorised signatory of Matrix Cellular (International) Services Pvt Ltd and addressed to KY Guruparsad, Deputy Superintendent of Police, CBI, New Delhi.”

“Vide the said letter, I forwarded to the CBI call records relating to a mobile number for the period January 1, 2008, till the date of the said letter, as desired by the CBI, in the form of CD. I also forwarded to the CBI the original customer agreement form of the said mobile number in the name of Ravinder Singh, Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi-60, along with identity (ID)proof and supporting documents,” CK Bhandari further stated.

“I also provided to the CBI certificate under Section 65-B of the Indian Evidence Act in respect to the said mobile number. I identify my signatures of the said certificate dated November 21, 2008,” he added in the statement.
