Now, HSRPs for ‘CH 01 BN’ series

CHANDIGARH: The RLA has started affixation of HSRPs on vehicles having registration numbers of the “CH 01 BN” series.



Chandigarh: The RLA has started affixation of HSRPs on vehicles having registration numbers of the “CH 01 BN” series. Owners of vehicles of the series can apply for affixation of HSRPs from February  16 to March 31. The process of affixation of HSRPs on vehicles being registered under the current series — CH01 BQ and CH 01 BR — will also be taken up with the above series. TNS

Theft case registered

Chandigarh: A case of theft has been registered at the Sector 19 police station. According to the police, complainant Pankaj Mahendro reported that some unknown person had stolen one LED TV, a DVD, nine mementos, gift boxes, decorative times and other valuables from his house in Sector 19. The theft was reported on January 31. TNS

Cash stolen from man’s pocket

Chandigarh: Two unidentified miscreants managed to steal Rs 20,000 from a man’s pocket at a bank in Sector 32. According to the police, complainant Roshan Lal, who works as a cook in the canteen of a college, reported that he had gone to deposit cash in the bank when the two accused asked him to help them in filling a deposit form. The victim turned down their request and in the meantime he received a call after which he went outside the bank. After a few minutes, he found that the cash which he had kept in his jacket’s pocket was missing. A case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated. TNS

Mobile phone snatched 

Chandigarh: Two unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants sped away after snatching a mobile phone in Sector 34 on Tuesday evening. Sources said the victim, Jitender Kumar a resident of Burail village, reported that miscreants riding a Splendor motorcycle snatched his mobile phone. The registration number of the motorcycle could not be noted down. The police have registered a case. TNS

Money snatched from vendor

Chandigarh: Two motorcycle-borne miscreants fled away after snatching Rs 1,600 from a fruit vendor in Sector 45. The police said Kailash, a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, reported that two miscreants riding a motorcycle came to his fruit stall and purchased grapes worth Rs 400. The accused claimed that they had a note of Rs 2,000 denomination and asked him to return Rs 1,600. When the vendor handed over the money to them, they escaped from the spot. The victim failed to note down the registration number of the motorcycle. The police were informed about the incident that rushed to the spot. Sources said CCTV cameras of the areas were being scrutinised. A case has been registered. TNS

Pak national brought to PGI

Chandigarh: A Pakistani national who was shot in the leg by security forces at the Fazilka border area last week was shifted to the PGI on Tuesday. The Pakistan national was shot in the leg while he was escaping after throwing drugs in the border area along with his brother. Initially, he was rushed to a government hospital in Amritsar. TNS

Tanvi Garg transferred

Chandigarh: The Ministry of Home Affair has transferred Tanvi Garg  to Delhi. Garg has joined the UT two months ago and was given the charge of the CEO, Chandigarh Housing Board. TNS

Bus driver held

Kharar: The Ghauran police have arrested Balbir Singh, driver of the Punjab Roadways bus of the Ludhiana depot that had collided  with another bus of St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, Chandigarh, leaving a 10-year-old child dead and his 13-year-old sister and two others seriously injured on Monday. ASI Sukhwinder Singh said a case has been registered  against Balbir Singh. OC

Man found unconscious 

Mohali: A man was found unconscious in his car at Phase 3B2 and taken to the Civil Hospital in Phase VI for treatment.  He has been identified as Satnam Singh, a resident of Lakhnaur. A police official said, “He was seated in the driving seat with neck slightly bent. Later, some passersby suspected some foul play and informed us.” He was taken to the Civil Hospital in Mohali from where he was referred to the GMCH-32. TNS
