Chandigarh, January 24

A day after the row over the Mayor’s residence, Mayor Rajesh Kalia held a function at the official residence in Sector 24 here today. While former Mayor Davesh Moudgil was absent during the function, Kalia denied that he entered the house without the knowledge of the former Mayor.

Moudgil accused that Kalia entered the house despite the fact it was still in his possession. When asked, Kalia said he was authorised to enter the house. He said MC employees opened the doors and no items related to the former Mayor were in the house. Kalia said he would shift here next week.

The Mayor hosted lunch at his official residence in Sector 24 in which several councillors and officers were invited.

While addressing the media, he said his focus would be to expedite the ongoing works in the next 40 days. Earlier while addressing the officers, the Mayor said he would learn several things from them.

KK Yadav, Commissioner; Dr Saurabh Mishra and Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioners; Manoj Bansal, Chief Engineer; Sanjay Arora, Superintending Engineer (B&R); and all executive engineers were also present during the meeting.

The Mayor requested all officers to call him for any kind of problem related to the MC and developmental work of their respective departments.

He said overall development was his priority and the remaining development works would be completed soon with the cooperation of councillors and officials of the corporation. Public participation is necessary to ensure the beautification of the city, the Mayor said.
