PU, college teachers yet to get exam payments

CHANDIGARH:Panjab University (PU) campus and college teachers have been seeking their emoluments of paper checking for a long time.

Chandigarh, October 17

Panjab University (PU) campus and college teachers have been seeking their emoluments of paper checking for a long time. They are complaining that since the new online transfer of money has been implemented, the delay has taken place.

However, Controller of Examination Prof Parvinder Singh said a number of payments had been made. “All other payments will be made by Monday,” he said.

“Earlier, they used to give the money in hand,” said one the paper setters. She added that she had called a number of times at secrecy branch but in vain. “Initially, they told me that fire incident has been delaying the payments,” she added.

Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) president Prof Rajesh Gill said, “Since the new system has come, there is no way to check things whether we are paid. A lot of complaints are coming. Campus teachers are saying they will not take part in examination system next time. The teachers shouldn’t have to ask.”

A meeting of the district council of the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union (PCCTU) was held at DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh, on October 14 regarding the non-payment of evaluation, re-evaluation and paper setting dues. They threatened that we would not take part in examination duties if payments are not paid by Diwali. “But by today about 50-60 per cent teachers have been paid. However, the rest would be paid by the next week,” said Prof Himashu Rampal, secretary of Chandigarh chapter of PCCTU. —TNS
