Thieves strike at 2 temples in city

CHANDIGARH: Cash boxes were stolen from two temples in the city on the intervening night of October 14 and 15.

Cash boxes were stolen from two temples in the city on the intervening night of October 14 and 15.

According to the police, the complainant, Satish Sharma, manager, Sanatan Dharam Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple, Sector 19, reported that a cash box containing around Rs 5,000 was stolen from the temple.

The theft came to light in the morning after which the Sector 19 police registered a case.

Another theft incident was reported from a temple in Sector 35 the same night.

The complainant, DR Sharma, general secretary, Rakeshwar Shri Ram Temple, Sector 35, reported that around Rs 1,500 was stolen from the cash box.

The police have registered a case at the Sector 36 police station. Police officials said CCTV footage was being scrutinised to identify the thieves.
