Mohali, July 5

Three persons, including a woman, were electrocuted in two different incidents at Mohali village and Balongi, here today.

In the first incident at Mohali village, victims Poonam (40) and her brother-in-law Permanand (41) were washing their courtyard following heavy rain when Poonam touched an iron pole of a shed and got electrocuted.

“Permanand tried to save his sister-in-law and was electrocuted too”, said the police.

Poonam’s husband Kishore Kumar alleged that his family members died due to carelessness of his landlord, Gurmeet Singh.

“Naked electric wires were hanging on the shed and despite repeated requests in this regard, Gurmeet Singh did not react. As it rained heavily today, the wires touched the shed which led to the tragedy”, alleged Kishore Kumar.

He gave a complaint to the police in this regard.

The second incident took place at Balongi last night, where a labourer, identified as Sikandar Shah, died after receiving electric shock from a water motor.

The police said that he was working at a site when the incident occurred.
