Continuing the drive against illegal mining activities, the Mubarikpur police arrested four persons on the charge of being engaged in illegal mining here on Thursday.

The police have also impounded two tippers loaded with gravel.

The police said on the complaint of Mining Department official Daljeet Singh, a case was registered against the two drivers and two owners of the tippers.

Sources said the Mining Department had laid a naka near Kakrali village and stopped two tippers loaded with gravel, which were coming from Ramgarh side. Both drivers could not produce valid documents about the material loaded in the vehicle.

An FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Mining Act against both drivers — Nirmail Singh, a resident of Panchkula, and Sharafat, a resident of Ambala — and owners of the vehicles — Sanjeev Kumar and Karnail Singh, both residents of Yamunanagar.

The Mubarikpur police claimed to have arrested three persons and seized nine tractor-trolleys loaded with sand gravel in Kakrali village on the intervening night of October 13 and 17.
