Two city-based youths were sentenced to six-month imprisonment for sexually harassing and insulting a 22-year-old girl and hitting her brother. Nitish Kumar and Nilesh Kumar, both residents of Sector 41, had blocked the way of a girl, her cousin and her brother in the middle of the road. They had harassed the girl and hit her brother. The court also fined the convicts Rs 500 each. According to the complaint, on May 26, 2016, the victim was riding pillion on an Activa scooter with her brother and a cousin as they were going to the Sector 41 market. However, the two bike-borne convicts started teasing the victim near the Sector 41/42 roundabout. As her brother objected to it, the convicts brought their bike in front of the Activa and stopped them.

The convicts pushed and slapped the brother and the cousin ran towards a police vehicle that was parked nearby. The victim clicked a picture of the motorbike of the convicts. However, the convicts fled by the time the police reached the spot, but with the help of the brother’s friend, they were nabbed soon.

An FIR was registered against the duo under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 354A (sexual harassment), 509  and 34 of the IPC. However, they were found guilty under Sections 354A and 509 of the IPC.
