Two die, 2 hurt in Ambala mishap

AMBALA:Two men died while two sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in was hit by a truck here on the National Highway late last night.

Two men died while two sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in was hit by a truck here on the National Highway late last night.

The deceased were identified as Bakhtawar Lal (80), a resident of Panipat, and Lakha Singh (68), a resident of Karnal, while the injured were identified as Shamsher Singh from Karnal and Rajeev Kumar from Panipat.

In his complaint to the police, Rajeev Kumar alleged that they were on their way from Ludhiana to Samalkha when around 12:30 am, their car was hit by a truck near Jaggi City Centre.

Such was the impact of the collision that Rajeev lost control of the vehicle and their car hit another car on the road. 

After the accident, the truck driver managed to flee from the spot. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital, Ambala City, where Lakha Singh was declared brought dead while Bakhtawar Lal was referred to Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Rajeev and Shamsher were provided medical attention at the City Civil Hospital.

A case has been registered under Sections 279, 304-A and 427 of the IPC at Baldev Nagar police station.
